Abigail Butte is a recent graduate from the Gabelli School of Business at Lincoln Center, Class of 2025, where she majored in Global Business. After transferring to Fordham in Fall 2022, she found both close friendships and a clear path toward her career. During her time as an undergrad, Abigail interned with Oakley on the Assortment Execution team — a role that led directly to a full-time position with EssilorLuxottica. Today, she works as a Senior Analyst in Planning Assortment Execution for Sunglass Hut in New York City.
How did you find this opportunity? Is it related to your major?
I interned for Oakley on the Assortment Execution team during Summer 2024, which extended through May 2025. That internship led to a full-time offer with the Sunglass Hut Assortment Execution team. Parts of the role connect to my Global Business major, especially working at an international company and applying consumer insights.
What were you most nervous or excited about as you started?
Joining a new team and stepping into the responsibilities of a full-time role — no longer as an intern — was both exciting and a little nerve-wracking!
What were your most valuable resources at Fordham?
The professors and the classes truly shaped me. They helped me grow academically and gave me the foundation that led to securing my internship and ultimately the full-time offer.
Did you do internships during your time as an undergrad?
Yes, I completed one internship — Oakley Product Allocation Intern from May 2024 to May 2025.
What advice would you give others for the job search and application process?
Network, network, network! Having a connection within a company can make a world of difference by raising awareness of your application. And don’t get discouraged — the right job will find you!
In general, what are your future career goals?
I hope to continue growing within the fashion retail industry and eventually move into leadership positions.
Optional: Fun fact or anything else you want to share!
I transferred to Fordham in Fall 2022, and it was the best decision — it’s where I made my best friends and found the path that led me to where I am today!
