The Fordham Career Center will host its popular Pop-Up Closet on February 5th from noon to 4 p.m. at Lincoln Center G76A (140 W. 62nd Street), where students are able to pick up employer-donated professional clothing, free of charge. Attendees can shop through gently used attire and accessories that can be used for career fairs, interviews, internships, and jobs.
The last Pop-Up Closet event was held in September 2023 at the Rose Hill Campus and received hundreds of donations from employers and community partners. More than 200 students were able to find clothing and accessories in every size and in a broad range of brands, ranging from everyday accessible stores to high-end designers.
The first Pop-Up Closet was held in September 2022 and began with the intention of becoming an annual event, but the overwhelming demand from students, paired with the extraordinary number of donations, opened the door for the event to be held a second time this academic year, and for the first time at Lincoln Center.
Beatrice Rice and Brittany Perez organize the Pop-Up Closets as part of the Career Center’s equity and inclusion initiatives. Not only does this event help level the playing field for students who might not otherwise be able to afford or find professional attire, but it also helps all students get ready for their next career steps. “ Attending the Fordham Career Center’s Annual Pop Up Closet is an investment in your professional future,” says Rice. “It’s a transformative experience that goes beyond clothing. When students are well-dressed, they tend to feel more confident. Confidence is a key ingredient for success in any professional setting, from interviews to networking events.”
