CCI is a pure-play energy merchant and trades natural gas, power, and oil and oil products. We trade natural gas across North America, Europe, and other global markets with a broad range of strategies. CCI is one of the top marketers of natural gas in North America, in addition to having wholesale gas marketing capabilities in Europe. Since inception, we have also invested in a diverse portfolio of natural gas and midstream energy assets. We trade across power markets in North America and Europe. We own, operate, and optimize power plants and battery storage platforms. In Oil and Oil Products, we are an active participant across global oil markets in key trading hubs. Our extensive research and a deep understanding of global supply and demand fundamentals, including refinery economics and freight markets, drive our insights and commercial strategy. Recruiter Caroline Fermo sits down with us to talk about tips and best practices for your job search!
What do you love about working with your organization?
I love that at CCI, the sky is the limit. People want to hear (and implement) your ideas, no idea is too outside of the box, and the people around you will push you to be better and succeed. We are a small and nimble organization that thrives with innovation and creativity, and I am energized by the entrepreneurial and driven mindsets of those around me.
Why do you enjoy working with Fordham students?
Much like the people at CCI, Fordham students are curious, collaborative, and motivated to solve complex problems. We have found that Fordham students are engaging to speak with, genuinely interested in the fast-paced environment in which we work, and exciting to work alongside.
What’s your best advice for graduating seniors who are seeking a job?
Be prepared, curious, and patient. You are your own best advocate, so be sure to have a strong, polished, and up-to-date resume and do your research before applications and interviews. Explore different roles and industries that you may not have exposure to; you never know what exciting opportunities may be just out of reach. Finally, be patient; application and interview processes do take time!
What’s your biggest red flag in an interview?
Showing up late! Always be on time. How you show up for an interview is an indication of how you will show up as an employee. Organize your schedule so that you can prioritize timeliness and make the best first impression possible. If a conflict or emergency arises, communicate with your point of contact as soon as possible.
How can students stand out in the recruiting process?
Be sure to have a clean, error-free resume. Prepare for your interviews and show up on time, dressed for the job you want, and camera on (if virtual). Ask strong questions that are genuinely tied to your interests and career goals.
Anything else to add?
While “thank you” emails may seem like a small gesture, they can make a world of difference and leave a lasting impression!
